How it works

No new number to advertise. No new workflow.

OpenHeight only steps in when you can't answer — everything else about how you run your business stays exactly the same.

01

Keep your number

Add one call-forwarding code to your existing phone. Answered calls never touch us — only the ones you miss forward to your assistant.

02

We answer when you can't

Your assistant picks up, says exactly what it is, and finds out what the job is, where, and how urgent. Callers who'd rather just leave a message can — it takes those too.

03

The summary hits your phone

Seconds after the call ends: a text with what they need, how urgent it is, and their callback number — plus the full transcript in your dashboard.

04

You call back and win the job

You ring them back knowing exactly what they need — while your competitors' callers are still listening to voicemail greetings.

The summary

Off the ladder, fully briefed

Every answered call becomes one clean text: the problem, the urgency, the callback number. No voicemail to decipher, no "call me back" mystery — you decide in five seconds whether this is a drop-everything job or a tomorrow job.

The full conversation lives in your dashboard, and if the caller said yes to photos, those land in the same place.

OH
OpenHeight Text message · just now

New call answered: water heater leaking in the garage — urgent, wants it fixed today. Callback (719) 555-0147. Caller is texting photos. Full call in your dashboard.

The whole call, in your pocket.

You only pay for calls the assistant answers: the 40-call plan bills $20 + 50¢ per answered call, capped at $40; the 70-call plan bills $25 + 50¢ per answered call, capped at $60. If you choose to keep answering past your included calls, those extra calls are billed separately at 50¢ each — only if you turn that on. Prices exclude applicable taxes and fees. You'll get a heads-up before reaching your included calls — never a surprise bill.

FAQ

Common questions

Do I have to change my phone number?

No. The number on your truck and your ads stays exactly as it is, and it keeps ringing your phone the way it does today. One call-forwarding code sends only the calls you don't answer to your OpenHeight line — a number we set up for you that you never have to advertise. It's where your assistant answers, and where customers can text photos. Answered calls never touch us.

Is it a robot? Won't callers just hang up?

It says what it is, up front: "I'm Copper Otter Plumbing's automated assistant." No pretending. And here's the math worth knowing: most callers who hit voicemail hang up and dial the next business on the list. A call that gets answered — even by an assistant that's honest about being one — keeps the customer talking to your business instead of a competitor's. Anyone who'd rather not chat can just say "take a message" and it switches to message-taking.

What will the assistant never do?

It never quotes prices, never books appointments, never promises when you'll call back, and never pretends to be a person. It gathers the details and gets out of the way — you make every business decision.

What about family calling my personal line?

During setup you list the people who should never meet the assistant — family, friends, your suppliers. Their calls ring through to plain old voicemail. Spot one later? One tap adds them to the list.

Is it allowed to text the caller?

Only when the caller asks for it. The assistant offers — "want me to text you so you can send photos?" — and their yes is recorded on the transcript. That first text identifies your business and carries STOP and HELP instructions, so the caller can end it in one word. No yes, no text, ever. See our messaging terms for details.

How fast is setup?

About ten minutes of your time: dial one forwarding code, tell us about your business — or point us at your website and we'll read it — and you're live. Call answering works immediately. Text summaries switch on once US carriers approve your business for messaging (we handle that registration; timing varies by carrier — often a few days) — until then your summaries live in the dashboard.

How does the pricing work?

One formula: a base charge plus 50¢ for every call we actually answer. The 40-call plan is $20 + 50¢ per answered call, so that plan charge never exceeds $40. The 70-call plan is $25 + 50¢ per answered call, never exceeding $60. Examples: 24 answered calls on the 40-call plan is $20 + $12 = $32; a month with none is just the $20 base; 70 answered calls on the larger plan is $25 + $35 = $60. Past your included calls, the choice you set in advance kicks in — overflow to regular voicemail at no extra cost, or, if you turn it on, keep answering at 50¢ per call billed on top of your plan charge. You'll always get a heads-up first, and prices exclude applicable taxes and fees.

What happens if I cancel?

Remove the forwarding code from your phone and every call rings straight to you again, like OpenHeight was never there. Your own number was always yours; the OpenHeight line we set up is retired when your account closes.

Stop losing the calls you already earned.

Every missed call is a customer who dialed your number on purpose. OpenHeight helps make sure they get answered.
